远水不解近渴

yuǎn shuǐ bù jiě jìn kě

(1) [distant water cannot quench present thirst]∶远距离的水不能止现在的渴

(2) [the aid is too slow in coming to be of any help]∶比喻缓慢的解决办法不能满足急迫的需要, 帮助太慢达不到任何帮助的目的

这也容易, 只是"远水解不得近渴"。 --《红楼梦》
